Wisdom Teeth Removal

At Pediatric Dentistry of Denton, we understand that wisdom teeth removal can be a daunting process, which is why we provide expert care to ensure it is as comfortable and smooth as possible. Wisdom teeth, or third molars, can sometimes cause pain, infection, or damage to adjacent teeth. In many cases, removal is recommended to avoid complications later on. We are proud to offer IV sedation for wisdom teeth removal, helping patients relax and remain comfortable during the procedure.

What to Expect with Wisdom Teeth Removal

The removal of wisdom teeth typically involves the following steps:

  1. Consultation and Evaluation
Dr. Ajay Ganti, our experienced oral and maxillofacial surgeon, will evaluate your child’s teeth through X-rays to determine if the wisdom teeth need to be removed. This assessment will also help to plan the best approach for a smooth procedure.

  2. IV Sedation
To ensure a comfortable experience, we offer IV sedation during the procedure. This helps to calm the patient and allows them to be fully relaxed, with little to no memory of the procedure once it’s complete. The level of sedation will be tailored to meet the needs of each patient, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process.

  3. The Procedure
The removal of wisdom teeth is typically done as an outpatient procedure, meaning the patient can return home the same day. Dr. Ganti will use advanced techniques to safely extract the teeth and ensure the recovery process is as smooth as possible.

  4. Post-Operative Care
After the procedure, Dr. Ganti will provide instructions for post-surgery care to ensure proper healing. This may include recommendations for pain management, what foods to avoid, and when to schedule follow-up visits.
