Welcome to Pediatric Dentistry of Denton, where Dr. Rex Gibson and our team prioritize your child’s oral health. If you’re looking for expert care in Denton, we’re here to help your little ones enjoy strong, healthy, and cavity-free smiles. One of the most effective preventive measures we offer is fluoride treatment for kids in Denton—a safe, quick, and painless way to protect your child’s teeth from tooth decay.
At our office, your child is not just another number; they’re family – and so are you!
Fluoride is a professional dental treatment designed to strengthen your child’s tooth enamel and help prevent cavities. Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that combats tooth decay by making teeth more resistant to acid attacks from food, plaque, and bacteria.
During a fluoride treatment, fluoride is applied directly to your child’s teeth as a gel, foam, or varnish. It’s much stronger than the fluoride found in toothpaste or tap water, offering a concentrated dose of protection where needed most.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), tooth decay remains one of the most common chronic conditions affecting children in the U.S. Left untreated, cavities can cause pain, infections, and even early tooth loss, potentially leading to speech, chewing, and overall health issues.
Here’s why fluoride treatment matters so much for kids, especially at a young age:
At Pediatric Dentistry of Denton, we’re committed to preventive care to keep your child’s smile healthy and bright.
We know parents like to understand every step of their child’s care. Here’s precisely what happens during a fluoride treatment for kids in Denton appointment with Dr. Rex Gibson at our locally owned office:
When you and your child arrive, our friendly team will ensure you feel comfortable and at ease. We strive to create a fun and relaxed environment that makes dental visits a positive experience.
Before applying fluoride, we’ll clean your child’s teeth professionally to remove plaque or tartar. This ensures that the treatment can adhere properly to the teeth’ surface.
Dr. Rex Gibson will apply fluoride using one of the following methods, depending on what’s best for your child’s needs:
The process is quick and painless, taking just a few minutes. The varnish option is often ideal for younger kids, as it dries almost instantly.
Once the treatment is complete, we’ll provide you with simple guidelines to ensure success:
And don’t worry— our locally owned pediatric dentist, Dr. Rex Gibson, and his team will answer your questions before you leave!
We understand that fluoride use can be a concern for some parents. The good news is that fluoride treatments are safe and highly effective when applied by a dental professional in appropriate amounts. Research has consistently shown that professional fluoride applications contribute significantly to reducing cavities in children.
At Pediatric Dentistry of Denton, your child’s safety is always our priority. We use carefully measured doses suitable for your child’s age, weight, and oral health needs to provide the most significant benefits without risks.
Every child is unique, but most dentists recommend fluoride treatments twice yearly during routine checkups. Children with a higher risk of cavities may benefit from more frequent treatments. If you need to determine how often your child should receive fluoride, Dr. Rex Gibson will assess their needs and recommend the best action.
At Pediatric Dentistry of Denton, we believe in empowering parents with the knowledge and tools they need to set their children up for lifelong oral health. Fluoride treatments are a simple yet invaluable part of your child’s dental care, offering robust protection from one of the most common dental issues kids face today.

Overall great job! The staff and the dentist are really patient and attentive with kids of all ages. They do a great job explaining everything and take their time with each kid. Best of all, they have very professional bilingual staff that know what they are doing.

Best dentist office for kids! Our son has been having regular checkups at this office since he was 1 year old. He gets so excited about going to see the dentist and I’m so thankful for a family-friendly office that goes above and beyond to make sure our little guy is treated well. We are so blessed to find this practice, it’s a rare find.
